This is my attempt at sort of 'starting new' on my This is my attempt at sort of 'starting new' on my Instagram. I took a four month break from social media to grieve after my step son completed suicide. Being on social media with happy smiles did not represent where we were in life. So, it was better to just take some time away.⁣ It feels like I have to 'cleanse the palate' to jump back in. As if to announce, I have been depressed for several months, but--hey--I am coming out of that (at least I am trying to); As if I have to have a distinct mark between the old me and the new me. #suicideawareness #militarysuicide #deathofachild

How do you smile and post happy snippets when such a heaviness has fallen on your family? My husband lost his only biological son to a milit My husband lost his only biological son to a military suicide.⁣ There is not much to add to that.⁣ It is heavy and nearly impossible to carry.⁣ We have hidden away for four months, processing the unbelievable and trying to heal the very best that we can...trying to get to know the new "us".⁣ And, I think that I am ready to get back onto social media. Maybe.⁣ If you are processing grief--any grief--it is okay to not be okay for however long you need to be.⁣ There is no timeline on healing from an overwhelming loss.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #dad #suicide #heal #helpme #stronger
